Wiwi-IT summarizes all activities of the KIT faculty that relate to IT.

Wiwi-IT consists of a group of academic and technical employees as well as trainees (IT specialists in system integration, IT specialists in application development, mathematical-technical software developers).
The technical staff are mainly involved in supporting the central facilities and the institutes. Programming is mainly carried out by academic staff. The trainees manage the pool operations and provide programming support. Each has specialized in a particular area and can therefore support the others if necessary.

WiWi-Portal

Areas of responsibility:

  • Wiwi-Pool
    In the pool and study rooms of the KIT Faculty of Business and Economics, students have access to over 50 computer workstations and 12 study places. All workstations are accessible to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via the KIT card.
    In addition, 35 workstations of the KIT Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are supervised. .
  • Wiwi-Portal
    The Wiwi-Portal bundles most of the IT applications offered by the faculty to support teaching. This includes a registration system for seminars and tutorials, an information system for examinations, a notebook lending service, many online forms relating to studies and much more.
  • IT in seminar rooms
    All seminar rooms in the faculty are equipped with IT equipment (projector, central control panel, LAN/WLan, some with visualizers). The equipment is available to all lecturers and tutors.
  • IT services for institutes
    Around 300 employee workstations and a good three dozen servers are supported.
    The variety of devices supported at the institutes is very large: from old notebooks to the latest multi-core and multi-processor servers, from small Linux servers to large virtual clusters or cloud solutions, from TeX to Word, ...
