Note

This lecture considers various relevant concepts of information processing in sensor networks. The focus is on approaches to process sensor data that consume little energy, which is essential for sensor networks.

The lecture starts with analog processing and analog-digital conversion of signals. Then, pattern recognition is considered. This is followed by approaches to reconstruct information on a wide-area phenomenon using distributed sensor nodes. Dynamic scenarios are also considered. The focus in this regard is on ways to aggregate information to minimize the energy consumption required for communication.

The goal of the lecture for students is to develop an understanding of the different stages and types of information processing in sensor networks. They learn to be able to analyze, compare, and assess different state-of-the-art approaches.
