Competence Certificate
The assessment is carried out as partial exams (according to Section 4(2), 1 or 2 of the examination regulation) of the single courses of this module, whose sum of credits must meet the minimum requirement of credits of this module. The exams are offered at the beginning of the recess period about the subject matter of the latest held lecture. Re-examinations are offered at every ordinary examination date. The assessment procedures are described for each course of the module separately. The overall grade for the module is the average of the grades for each course weighted by the credits and truncated after the first decimal.
Competence Goal
The students
- have learnt the methods of formal economic modeling, particularly of General Equilibrium Theory and contract theory
- will be able to apply these methods to the topics in Finance, specifically the areas of financial markets and institutions and corporate finance
- have gained many useful insights into the relationship between firms and investors and the functioning of financial markets
Prerequisites
One of the courses T-WIWI-102861 "Advanced Game Theory" and T-WIWI-102609 "Advanced Topics in Economic Theory" is compulsary.
Content
The mandatory course "Advanced Topics in Economic Theory" is devoted in equal parts to General Equilibrium Theory and to contract theory. The course "Asset Pricing" will apply techniques of General Equilibrium Theory to valuation of financial assets. The courses "Corporate Financial Policy" and "Finanzintermediation" will apply the techniques of contract theory to issues of corporate finance and financial institutions.
