Note

1. Economical aspects of polymers
2. Introductiom of mechanical,
chemical end electrical properties
3. Processing of polymers
(introduction)
4. Material science of polymers
5. Synthesis

learning objectives:

The field of Polymer Engineering includes synthesis, material science, processing, construction, design, tool engineering, production technology, surface engineering and recycling. The aim is, to equip the students with knowledge and technical skills, and to use the material "polymer" meeting its requirements in an economical and ecological way.

The students

  • are able to describe and classify polymers
based on the fundamental synthesis processing techniques
  • can find practical applications for state-of-the-art polymers and manufacturing technologies
  • are able to apply the processing techniques, the application of polymers and polymer composites regarding to the basic principles of material science
  • can describe the special mechanical, chemical and elctrical prooperties of polymers and correlate these properties to the chemical bindings.
  • can define application areas and the limitation in the use of polymers

requirements:
none

workload:

regular attendance: 21 hours
self-study: 99 hours
